United Nations Youth and Student Association of Austria - Academic Forum for Foreign Affaires
The United Nations Youth and Student Association of Austria - Academic Forum for Foreign Affairs (UNYSA-AUSTRIA - AFA) is a politically independent Non-Profit Organization run by young people and students interested in Foreign Affairs, as well as a branch of the United Nations Association of Austria.
In a time, where solutions to political and economic as well as social and ecological problems can no longer be solved in a national frame work in a time where integration and globalization are the leading parameters, a dynamic and internationally open mind is required by the youth to understand international questions.
The AFA was established in 1991, following the ideas of the predecessor organizations whose activities go back into the first Republic of Austria and since then tries to take on these challenges.
With public events like lectures, panel discussions, seminars and workshops current international topics are pointed out with guest speakers from politics, economy and diplomacy.
Visits of embassies and other institutions offer the possibility to learn more about the single areas. International study trips and excursions enable interested students to take a corresponding view.
As United Nations Youth and Student Association, the AFA finds itself as a link between schools, universities and the United Nations.
The annual Vienna International Model United Nations (VIMUN), a simulation conference of the work in the different individual organizations of the United Nations, facilitates the contact between internationally interested people of all over the world in order to become acquainted with the functioning of the United Nations.
The independent magazine GLOBAL VIEW, regularly issued by the AFA, understands itself as information and discussion forum to foreign and world political topics for students and the establishment of foreign policy.
