Welcome to the Website of the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations! Thank you for your interest in Austria’s work at the UN. I hope you will find the information you are looking for.

Austria is a proud member of the United Nations, having joined immediately after regaining her full sovereignty in 1955. So, as the United Nations celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2015, Austria celebrated her 60th anniversary as a UN member state.

Multilateral diplomacy - with the United Nations at its center - is a cornerstone of Austria’s foreign policy.

You will thus find Austria an active and engaged UN member in fields as diverse as peace operations, human rights, the rule of law, development, environment and disarmament.

It is a privilege to serve as ambassador to the United Nations where together with colleagues from all over the world we are making an effort to tackle the many challenges our planet is facing.

My team and I are looking forward to making our contribution.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Mission for any further inquiries about our work at the UN or Austria in general!
