Lopatka: Austrian businesses operate successfully and sustainably

State Secretary Lopatka on DARUM EUROPA information tour in Tyrol

St. Johann in Tirol/Erpfendorf, 2 May 2013 – "Austrian companies are role models for sustainable and successful management", State Secretary Lopatka said on his DARUM EUROPA information tour in Tyrol.

"The Huber Bräu family enterprise in St. Johann in Tirol, for example, uses locally produced umbel hops for the production of its beer and attaches great importance to organic cultivation. The company lives by the motto "quality over quantity", Lopatka said.

In the course of his EU information tour "DARUM EUROPA", State Secretary Reinhold Lopatka is currently visiting companies in Tyrol to discuss questions relating to the EU with the workforce of Tyrolean operations. One of the companies he visited was Steinbacher Dämmstoffe in Erpfendorf. The company produces neither exhaust gases not waste water; no CFS are used in the manufacture of its products and all production waste is systematically recycled. "Austria's companies demonstrate that it is possible to be competitive and still observe the most stringent environmental standards at the same time", Lopatka said. "Austria is a role model for sustainability and competitiveness in the EU. And the quality of Austrian export products is particularly high."

Austria earns 6 out of every 10 euros from exports. 70% of our exports go to other EU nations. "Thanks to the Euro we are able to benefit from a large market without barriers", the State Secretary said. Jobs in Austria are dependent on export trade. Since Austria's accession to the EU, the country's economy has been growing and about 13,000 additional jobs have been created every year.
