Consul General Ferdinand Seefried is awarded Grand Decoration of Honor for Merit to the Republic of Austria

Decoration presented by Austrian Ambassador Christian Prosl in Atlanta

Vienna, 14 September, 2011 – At a reception held in Atlanta, USA, on 13 September 2011, attended by prominent representatives from the fields of politics, economy, and culture, Dr. Christian Prosl, Ambassador of Austria to the United States, presented Ferdinand Seefried, Honorary Consul General of Austria, ad personam with the Grand Decoration of Honor for Merit to the Republic of Austria, awarded by the Federal President of the Republic of Austria.

“Ferdinand Seefried has managed the Austrian Consulate General in Atlanta since 1989 in a model fashion and is always there to assist Austrian citizens in need. He has also contributed to joint projects in the educational sector, for instance a teacher exchange program organized in cooperation with the city of Vienna, or a cooperative project between the High Museums of Art in Atlanta and the Museum of Art History in Vienna”, said Ambassador Prosl in his speech.

Ferdinand Seefried is Executive Chairman of Seefried Industrial Properties, one of the largest developers of warehouses in the United States (Home Depot, Pepsi Cola, Verizon, Siemens, DHL). A new warehouse – among the largest logistics projects ever in the US – built by his company for amazon was opened by Honorary Consul General Seefried together with the Ambassador of Austria on 14 September 2011. 

Honorary Consul General Seefried is in charge of the consular districts of Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee and is always available to help to Austrian citizens in need.
