Tel Aviv, 25 November - Since November 19, the St. Florian Boys´ Choir, consisting of 45 children, has been on a concert tour in Israel for the first time. This tour represents Upper Austria´s contribution to the celebrations of the 60th anniversary since the founding of the state of Israel. The choir has already given successful and well-attended performances in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem. On 23 November, the boys’ choir sang before Holocaust survivors and displaced people from Upper Austria in the presence of a delegation of the Provincial Government of Upper Austria, headed by Deputy Governor Franz Hiesl.
Upon the initiative and with the support of the Austrian Culture Forum in Tel Aviv, a special concert by the choir has been planned for 26 November in Dorot, a Kibbutz founded by German and Austrian emigrants on the northern rim of the Negev desert in 1940, as a special gesture for the town, located not far from the Gaza Strip. The Austrian Ambassador in Israel, Michael Rendi, and the Chairman of the region "Sha´ar Ha-Negev" will be attending the concert.
