Vienna, 28 November 2007 - Tomorrow, 29 November, the foreign ministers of the OSCE member states will meet in Madrid, one month prior to the end of the Spanish OSCE chair. Austria will be represented by State Secretary Hans Winkler.
The meeting will focus on the situation in Kosovo, the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Russia following the failure of an ODIHR (Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) European election observation mission for Russia, and questions of disarmament in connection with Russia’s announcement of its suspension of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE). Other items on the agenda include future OSCE activities in the fields of border management and customs control in the central Asian states neighbouring Afghanistan.
