Open House in the Foreign Ministry on 26 October 2007

Vienna, 19 October 2007 - The Foreign Ministry is inviting the public to an Open House with a broad information and entertainment programme on 26 October 2007 on the occasion of the Austrian national holiday. The Foreign Ministry will open its doors at Minoritenplatz 8 in Vienna to interested visitors from 10 am to 5 pm.

Federal Minister Dr. Ursula Plassnik and her team are looking forward to welcoming you in the building of the Foreign Ministry on 26 October 2007. The Ministry staff will be happy to answer any questions on visits abroad, on the major topics of Austrian foreign policy, on the support for Austrian business and culture abroad, or on development cooperation. Moreover, you can test your knowledge on international issues at terminals specially programmed for this purpose.

You can also visit the famous marble hall, where Austria’s entire history is depicted in a unique ceiling fresco painted by Biedermeier artist Leopold Kuppelwieser, and complete your visit with some delicious "Fair Trade" chocolate, the result of a successful Austrian development cooperation.

In front of the ministerial building there is going to take place a music programme as well, including singer Sandra Pires and other renowned artists, who will be performing for you between 10 am and 5 pm. Admission is free.
