State Secretary Winkler to visit representatives of Slovak government on Wednesday


Vienna, 29 November 2005 - On Wednesday, 30 November, State Secretary Hans Winkler will meet the Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic, Eduard Kukan, Deputy Prime Minister Pál Csáky and his counterpart, Magda Vásáryová, State Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, for talks in Bratislava.

In addition to bilateral themes, the talks will focus on Austria’s forthcoming EU Presidency, the future of Europe, in particular further measures with regard to the European Constitution, and the Financial Perspective. Another item on the agenda is the forthcoming taking over of a non-permanent seat on the Security Council of the United Nations by the Slovak Republic at the beginning of next year.

On the sidelines of the meeting State Secretary Winkler will give a speech on the priorities of Austria’s EU Presidency at a panel discussion of the Slovak-Austrian Chamber of Trade.
