Plassnik appeals to all forces in Kyrgyzstan to refrain from using violence

Vienna, 25 March 2005 - "I appeal to all sides to refrain from using violence and work together for a democratic, peaceful future for Kyrgyzstan based on a dialogue between all political forces. A democratic Kyrgyzstan that fully enforces human rights and follows the path of democratic reform is of immense importance for the stability of the region", said Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik in response to the latest developments in Kyrgyzstan.

"I welcome the efforts being made within the framework of the OSCE by the Slovenian Chairman-in-Office, whose Personal Representative for the Central Asian states, Alojz Peterle, is in Kyrgyzstan at the moment", added the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
