Foreign Minister Plassnik and State Secretary Winkler at Europe Roadshow

Vienna, 10 November 2005 - On Friday, 11 November, Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik and State Secretary Winkler will participate in the Europe Roadshow in Vienna.

Within the Europe Roadshow, which is organised by the Federal Government in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and the Association of Austrian Industrialists, a Europe bus has been touring the federal provinces since 17 October, providing information on Europe and offering games and the opportunity to speak with EU experts. The expectations, hopes, criticism and fears of Austrians can be discussed with EU representatives, members of the European Parliament and politicians and will then be taken into account in the forthcoming EU Presidency.

On 11 November, the Europe bus will stop in Vienna.

Foreign Minister Plassnik will be on hand at 6 pm at Stock-im-Eisen-Platz in Vienna’s 1st district, where she will comment on current EU issues and answer questions.

State Secretary Winkler will comment on the EU’s significance for Austria in the morning at Pius-Parsch-Platz in Vienna’s 21st district. The event will start at 11 am.

The EU Roadshow is part of an EU information campaign by the Federal Government to intensify dialogue with citizens and make the advantages of EU membership more visible. Interested citizens are invited to express their concerns, criticism and expectations of Europe on the interactive website
