VIS 2017 - CALL FOR ENTRIES
Entries are now open for the 14th edition of VIS Vienna Shorts, Austria's international festival for short film, animation & music video. VIS is qualifying festival for the Academy Awards® and the Austrian Film Awards and will take place from May 31 to June 6, 2017.
Accepting films up to 30 minutes. Submit your short via FilmFreeway, FilmFestivalLife or FestHome until January 4th, 2017. Read more here
SACREEE in Windhoek
On 5 December 2016 the Deputy Head of Mission of the Austrian Embassy in Pretoria visited the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) in Windhoek, Namibia. The set-up of this centre, which has been operational since September 2016, is supported by the Austrian Development Agency with EUR 1,8 mio.
Special Olympics 2017 in Austria
Ambassador Brigitte Öppinger-Walchshofer met the President of South Africa's office for the Special Olympics 2017. 25 athletes will compete in March 2017 in Austria.
On 23 November 2016 Ambassador Brigitte Öppinger-Walchshofer spoke with UBUNTU-Radio about the latest developments in the bilateral relations between South Africa and Austria.
SEBASTIAN KURZ IN SOUTH AFRICA
Together with the President of the Austrian Economic Chamber Christoph Leitl, Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz was travelling to South Africa from Sunday 23 October to Wednesday 27 October. They were accompanied on this visit by a delegation of 25 representatives of Austrian companies.
The objectives of the trip were the strengthening of the bilateral Relations and Austria´s involvement and contribution to the development cooperation in South Africa.

Wood Sculpture Workshop in Botswana
Between 20th and 24th June 2016 the Austrian sculptor Christiane Stolhofer conducted a wood sculpture workshop for young artists from the Maun region. The aim of the workshop, which was sponsored by the Austrian Embassy in Pretoria, was to improve the skills of young, local artists, in order allow them to sell their sculptures on the local market.
