BREXIT - Information for Austrian citizens in the UK
UK Referendum on 23 June 2016 on EU membership
There will be no changes to the status of Austrian and other EU citizens with residence in the UK as well as British citizens with residence in Austria, as long as the new modalities of the relationship between the EU and the UK, which have yet to be negotiated, enter into force. This process can only be triggered by the UK informing the European Council about its intention to leave the EU and will presumably take several years. Prime Minister David Cameron announced that the UK will not notify the European Council before October 2016.
