Updated Information regarding the Austrian Presidential Election 2016
Dear Austrians abroad!
The Repetition of the runoff (2nd ballot) to the Austrian Presidential Election 2016 had to be postponed because of a material fault during production of the ballots
Given the material vice of the voting cards a proper and legally compliant election would not have been possible.
On September 21st the Austrian National Assembly has therefore officially decided on a new election date for the Austrian Presidential Election 2016.
The Repetition of the Austrian Presidential Election 2016 will be held on December 4th, 2016.
Unlike the now canceled elction on October 2nd, the right to vote is now expanded to all Austrians who are registered on the electoral roll and have reached the age of 16 by December 4th 2016
The deadline for registration in the electoral register is September 27th. For Austrians residing abroad the electoral registration until October 27th 2016 is possible.
An application for a voting card is required. The application must be submitted in writing to the competent Austrian electoral register municipality. The application should be made as soon as possible.
Exception: The holder of a valid voting card subscription, they do not need to apply again.
In most municipalities an ONLINE DIRECT APPLICATION is possible: https://www.wahlkartenantrag.at/ possible.
