Learn new ways of seeing people in relation to an architectural environment with ICP (International Center of Photography) instructor, Anja Hitzenberger. This two-session workshop is for those who want to create dynamic compositions and develop a heightened sensitivity to photographing people in various surroundings. Participants will be inspired to find their own voice for photographing people in space through a shoot in the unique architecture of Caochangdi, an assignment and final critique. We will also make a comparative study of historical and contemporary photographers and filmmakers, from documentary to conceptual. Students may work in digital or film in any camera format. The workshop will be in both English and Mandarin

Anja Hitzenberger is a photographer, filmmaker and video artist whose work focuses on the body and its relationship to architecture and space. She has received numerous grants, commissions and residencies for her work from the Austrian government and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (New York). She is also currently on the faculty of the International Center of Photography in New York, where she teaches Personal Vision photography classes.
