The St. Florian Boys’ Choir consists of 45 children and tours Israel with concerts for the first time between 19.-27.11.2008. This tour is the contribution of the province of “Upper Austria” to the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel. The Choir already appeared in Tel Aviv, in Haifa and in Jerusalem; their performances were very successful and had a big audience. On 23rd of November the children’s choir sang for Holocaust survivors from Upper Austria in the presence of an official delegation of the Province of “Upper Austria”, headed by Mr. Franz Hiesl, the Vice Governor of Upper Austria.
On November 26th, 2008 a special concert, initiated and supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum Tel Aviv, will take place at Kibbutz Dorot as a special gesture for the settlement, which is located not far from the Gaza Strip at the northern edge of the Negev Desert, founded by German and Austrian Immigrants in 1940. The Austrian Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Michael Rendi, and the Chairman of the Region “Sha’ar Ha Negev”, will also be present.
