Austria: Entry and Visa Requirements
Austria is a member of the Schengen-Agreement. Nationals of Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia require a valid visa or a residence-permit to travel to Austria. Nationals of Ethiopia and Somalia also require a visa for Airport-Transit.

Requirements:
DOCUMENTS NEEDED for VISITORS or BUSINESS VISA:
- application form (application has to be filed personally by the applicant)
- two colour photographs size 3.5 x 4.5 cm
- valid passport (visa duration + 6 months ) and 1 copy of the passport
- consular fee of 60 Euro (to be paid in Ethiopian Birr at the current exchange rate – for current amount see notice at the visa counter)
- proof of financial means (bank account statement, property ownership document, company registration, business license et al.)
- proof of employment and salary (all documents in original plus one set of copies for the Embassy’s file)
- round trip ticket reservation
- travel- / health insurance valid for the Schengen States for the duration of the intended stay covering a minimum of 30,000 Euro (policies of the following insurance companies are accepted: Awash Insurance Company, Ethiopian Insurance Company, Nib Insurance Company, Nile Insurance Company, Nyala Insurance Company)
- for business travellers: invitation (i.e. sponsorship) by Austrian company (see below)
- if visit to Austria will be sponsored, sponsor (for companies: sponsor's authorised representative) must contact the competent authority in Austria where the sponsorship will be formalized and an eleven-digit ID-number will be issued which the sponsor must communicate to the applicant
- when applying for the visa, the applicant will inform the Austrian Embassy of this ID-number which is needed for retrieval of the relevant information from an electronic information system
- please note that, for technical reasons, this information can only be accessed 48 hours after the number was issued
