On October 17, Austria was elected as Non-Permanent Member of the Security Council 2009-2010. More
New Austrian biometric passports
Since March 30, 2009 all new applications for an Austrian passports will have to include fingerprints. That means every applicant has to appear in person at the Austrian Consulate. No fingerprints will be taken from children under the age of 12.
All valid Austrian passports will stay valid and don't have to be exchanged. Further information about the new biometric passport with fingerprints is available on the website of the Ministry of Interior.
