Spindelegger congratulates Michael Haneke on Prince of Asturias Award

Vienna, 10 May 2013 – "I congratulate Michael Haneke most warmly on receiving the internationally renowned Spanish "Premio Principe de Asturias" in the "Arts" category. This award is not only a distinction for Michael Haneke's outstanding and multi-faceted work, but also for the Austrian film industry in general", Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger said.

The Premio Principe de Asturias is the most important arts award in Spain. Michael Haneke was nominated for the prize by the Austrian Embassy in Madrid, and will receive the distinction at the award ceremony in October. In February, Michael Haneke received the Golden Medal of the Circulo de Bellas Artes, another prestigious Spanish award.
