Bratislava, 20 November 2013 - The State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry of Slovakia, Peter Javor?ík, the President of the Austrian-Slovak Society Dr. Werner Fasslabend, Austrian Ambassador Dr. Markus Wuketich and the authors of the survey will present the study on "20 years of Austrian-Slovak relations" at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Bratislava today.
Bilateral relations between Austria and Slovakia were established on 1 January 1993, and these two decades have seen noticeable progress in economic, political, cultural and cross-border cooperation. The business sector, in particular, is a highly dynamic success story. Austria is the second largest foreign investor in Slovakia and trade between the countries is increasing steadily. Political representatives of the two countries are discussing important issues regularly. "The relationships between our countries are deep and friendly. All, even delicate topics, can be put on the table in open and transparent dialogue", the Austrian Ambassador to Slovakia, Markus Wuketich said.
The study was carried out by the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (www.sfpa.sk) in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy in Bratislava. The study aims to present what has been achieved so far as well as ideas and recommendations for further development of the Austrian-Slovak relationships. "The study is also an important contribution to promoting direct contacts between the people of our two countries", the Austrian Ambassador said. There are plans to present the study also in other Slovakian cities in the framework of panel discussions.
The study is available for download from the website of the Austrian Embassy in Bratislava from 21 November: http://www.bmeia.gv.at/botschaft/pressburg.htlm
