Vienna, 27 June 2013 – State Secretary Dr. Reinhold Lopatka welcomes today's agreement reached by the Council, the Commission and the European Parliament on the multi-annual financial framework 2014-2020: "I am very pleased that an agreement about the next EU budget 2014-2020 has now been reached after nearly two years of negotiating. The outcome after these tough negotiations is a triumph of common sense and a triumph for Europe. Failure of the negotiations would have entailed grave doubts about the EU's ability to act and increased the people's scepticism even further."
"It is also an important signal that we now have the funds available to fight youth unemployment and to organise various European projects that will foster our economy, our regions, and the rural area and thereby make Europe stronger and more competitive", the State Secretary said.
