Vienna, 15 July 2013 – Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger invited tennis players from the world of politics, economy, culture, the diplomatic corps and the media to the fourth charity tennis tournament organised by his Ministry at the Colony Tennis Club Vienna yesterday. The 80 participants raised 35,000 euros which will be donated to the SOS Children's Village and SOS Social Centre in Mogilev, Belarus.
Directed by Austrian Tennis Association President and sports manager Ronnie Leitgeb, the mixed doubles played with alternating partners and opponents.
Honorary guest of this year's tennis charity tournament was the Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi who joined other prominent players such as the Austrian Minister for the Environment Niki Berlakovich, Carinthian Minister Wolfgang Waldner, football coach Frenkie Schinkels, Peter Thirring (from Generali) and Thomas Hintze (from UPC Telekabel) in the tournament.
The special prizes included a private coaching lesson with Austria's number 1 in tennis, Jürgen Melzer, and a stay for two persons in Paris with tickets for the Roland Garros tournament. Musical entertainment at the tournament was ensured by the Carinthian band "Sevenphonics".
