Vienna, 10 July 2011 – Today, Sunday, Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger is hosting a charity tennis tournament at the Fontana Tennis Centre in Oberwaltersdorf, with players from politics, business and culture, the diplomatic corps and the media, the second event of its kind. The proceeds generated by the event will be donated to the SOS Children’s Village at Fort Portal, Uganda.
Ronnie Leitgeb, the successful sports manager and a schoolmate of Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, is acting as tournament director. Leitgeb’s enterprise, ChampEvent, isusing its own software to match the various partners and opponents for the doubles tournament.
Among the prominent players are State Secretary Wolfgang Waldner, entrepreneur Andrea Fendrich, tennis legend Hans Kary, Willi Gorton (Hohe Brücke), Thomas Hintze (UPC Telekabel), Peter Husslein (chief physician), Markus Beyrer (ÖIAG) and Ivica Vastic (trainer of the Austrian Amateurs football team). The special prize is a private tennis lesson with Austria’s No. 1, Jürgen Melzer. The sports activities will be accompanied by the Sound Projector Quartet, composed of four music students from the Vienna Conservatory.
