Budapest, 25 March 2010 – “There is often a long and tedious journey between the initial idea and the finished novel,” claimed crime-story author Eva Rossmann at a reading organised by the Austrian Cultural Forum in Budapest. Following her first rendition from Wine and Death at the Dupla café, Rossmann told the audience how and where she finds her stories. While Rossmann was reading in German, Hungarian actress Bori Péterfy recited the same passages in Hungarian at the city’s Szimpla café, with translator Lajos Adamik acting as a presenter. The two cafés are located next to one another, and are connected by basement vaults, where, following the readings, the audience met for a tasting of wine from the Weinviertel. The translated passages will be printed in the May edition of HID, a Magyar literary magazine published in Serbia.
