Spindelegger: “We share Chile’s joy”

Vienna, 14 October 2010 – “Austria and the whole world are rejoicing, together with Chile, over the rescue of 33 miners from the San José mine, an operation  watched by the world in great suspense,” commented Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger, welcoming the successful rescue of the trapped miners in the early hours of this morning.

Austrians, too, were instrumental in bringing about their rescue: “Austria, which can look back at its long experience of mining, is proud that it made a contribution to this rescue operation with regard to the provision of technology and personnel. It is an example of Austria’s intensive and successful co-operation with Chile,” concluded the Foreign Minister.
