Vienna, 22 December 2010 - “The fact that Standard & Poor’s reaffirms the triple A rating for Austria and explicitly pays tribute to our budget consolidation plan confirms the correctness of the course embarked upon by the Minister of Finance, Josef Pröll”, stated Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger in a response to today’s announcement by the rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P).
“The Federal Government has launched an austerity plan which demands a high price from all of us. But the rating from outside proves that we are right. The given consolidation programme will help us to succeed in stabilising the national budget, which will offer security and financial stability in the future”, concluded the Foreign Minister.
