Milan, 7 March 2010 – The film "A moment of freedom", the first feature by Austrian-Iranian director Arash T. Riahi was unanimously elected by the jury and the audience as the best film at the "Nuovo Cinema Europa" festival that took place from 1 to 5 March in Genoa. The festival jury explained its choice with the "moving account of the drama of refugees", the "successful combination of tragic situations with a touch of comedy", and the "convincing commitment to the idea of a "necessary" cinema with civil courage".
The "Nuovo Cinema Europa" festival perceives itself as a panorama of contemporary European film and as a showcase for young ambitious directors, and was organized by the cultural association "Profondità di Campo" with the support of the Municipality of Genoa and several European cultural institutes.
