Podgorica, 2 February 2010 – A major exhibition of contemporary fine art from Austria will be on display in Montenegro for the first time from 23 January to 7 February. The exhibition titled "In between - Austria Contemporary" organized in cooperation between Montenegro’s centre for contemporary art, the Cultural Ministry of Montenegro, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts, and Culture, and the Austrian Embassy in Podgorica represents a colourful snapshot of artistic creation, highlighting the way young artists deal with today’s reality and the positions they take.
The exhibition, on display in the "Perjanici" (Grenadier) section of the royal Petrovic Palace, features formidable exhibits of more than twenty young artists ranging from Andessner, Astuy and Draschan to the „Bildkombinat Bellevue“, Böck, Eichhorn, Fogarasi, Giannotti, Heller, Kaludjerovic, Wilfling and Zimmer, and was met with great interest especially in Montenegro, where the image of Austria as a former neighbour in the Austro-Hungarian Empire is very positive yet still largely traditional. The well-attended opening was widely covered in the press and in electronic media, and provides an update on contemporary Austria.
As part of the diverse and very fruitful cultural relations between Austria and Montenegro, two Austrian artists will be participating at the renowned DanilovgradArt Colony for sculpture for the first time this year.
