Austria joins traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin

Dublin, 16 March 2010 - The LYRA musical society, a music ensemble consisting of some 50 committed brass players from Wiener Neudorf in Lower Austria will be participating at this year’s traditional St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin on 17 March. Both the organizers, the St. Patrick’s Festival Office in Ireland’s capital, and the invited Austrian musicians expressed their joy and gratification over the Austrian participation in the festivities on Irish National holiday, and stressed the particularly high standards that participants must meet. Apart from the LYRA musical society, brass bands from the USA, Great Britain, France, and Spain will be taking part this year in this very popular parade in Dublin. The host country itself will be represented at the parade with two music bands. Austria’s representative in Ireland, Ambassador Walter Hagg, received the band from Wiener Neudorf in his Dublin Residence and was delighted with the convivial serenade that the musicians performed for him and a group of fellow countrymen and friends of Austria.
