Joseph Roth en exil à Paris (1933-1939)

Tribute to Joseph Roth; Colloquium in the Jewish Museum in Paris

Paris, 28 September 2009 – In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the death of Joseph Roth, the Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme, located in the Parisian Marais district, and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Paris organized together a colloquium with international guests titled „Joseph Roth en exil à Paris“ from 24 to 26 September.

Leading literature experts and historians examined the personal circumstances that had a particular influence on Roth: the Eastern European Jewry, the loss of his homeland, or the intellectual circles he frequented.

The objective of the colloquium was to make Joseph Roth the journalist, columnist, and cosmopolitan better known to the French public.

A Roth exhibition has already been on display in the Jewish Museum in Paris since June, featuring items on loan from the Literaturhaus in Vienna.
