New Delhi, 29 September 2009 - Upon invitation by the Austrian Cultural Forum in New Delhi, the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt went on a concert tour through India from 22 to 28 September 2009. The Austrian musicians Harald Kosik (piano), Verena Stourzh (violin), and Hannes Gradwohl (cello) delighted Indian and international audiences with a demanding programme featuring works by Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Together with Austrian artist Ronny Goerner the Trio also staged an evening performance titled "Austrian Symphony of Art and Music" for a selected audience in Surajkund, near New Delhi.
As part of the Haydn Year 2009, the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt organized a special evening programme for the alumni of the Oxbridge Society in India as a tribute to the work of Joseph Haydn in London and his links to Oxford during the Haydn Year - Haydn was awarded the honorary doctorate by the University of Oxford.
To celebrate the anniversary of "60 years of Austrian-Indian diplomatic relations“, also in 2009, and in view of the role played at the time by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in connection with Austria’s neutrality, a public concert was held in the recently refurbished auditorium of the Nehru Memorial Museums & Library in Delhi.
The successful concert tour came to a close with a concert in the St. Agnes Church in Panaji and a workshop for young music students at the Music School Goa.
