Astana, 4 November 2009 - The swinging melodies of "Die Tanzgeiger", a group consisting of seven Austrian musicians, have attracted audiences in almost all European countries as well as in Asia and the Americas. On 3 November, they also enchanted concertgoers in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Their programme comprised waltzes, czárdás, landler as well as marches, folk dances and alpine yodelling songs.
In addition, master classes in string chamber music by Joseph Haydn, brass ensembles (Wiener Klang) and Austrian folk music and its relationship with classical music are being organised for Kazakh music students on 4 November.
Following their kick-off in Astana the group will give another concert in Almaty.
This concert tour, which was organised by the Austrian Embassy in Astana, has been financed by sixteen Austrian and international sponsors.
