Austrian artist provides pictures for the permanent collection of Lesotho’s National Library

Maseru, 4 November 2009 - Since 29 October 2009, the State Library in Maseru houses not only Lesotho's state archive, but also offers an artistic image canon of the country, which resulted from a cooperation between Austrian photographer Michael Rathmayer and Mosuto film maker Sejake Matsela.Ambassador Dr. Otto Ditz handed over to the Culture Minister L. Ntsinyi and the director of the national library “Mantati Keta” 32 pictures, which will now be permanently exhibited in the newly erected national library.

Culture Minister Ntsinyi, who studied in Salzburg, expressed her thanks for the year-long cooperation in the area of culture, which finds its latest expression in a modern, inside and outside look at the “Mountain Kingdom”, as Lesotho describes itself.

Lesotho follows the example of Austria as a model for its tourism development.The Afri–Ski skiing area in the Drakensberg mountains is a joint venture with Austria.
