2011 Gothenburg Book Fair to focus on German literature

Stockholm, 21 December 2009 – On 16 December 2009, Sweden’s “Gothenburg Book Fair” announced its new theme for 2011: “Three countries – one language: a focus on German-literature”. For the first time since 1999, the presentation will have a major emphasis on the literature of the German-speaking area.

The “Gothenburg Book Fair” attracts some 100,000 visitors annually and traditionally takes place the last week of September. The event constitutes an excellent platform for the presentation of Austria’s rich literary tradition and its current representatives. With a stand organised by the Austria Centre in Skövde, and financed by the Austrian Ministry for Education, Art and Culture, Austria has been a regular participant at the Fair since the mid-1990s.

The embassies of Switzerland, Germany and Austria, together with the Goethe Institute in Sweden, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Austrian Book Trade Association and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, will be co-operating as partners at the Gothenburg Book Fair.
