Vienna, 17 November 2008 – "Distinctiveness, care, and contemporary sustainability. These are the three characteristics that come to my mind when I think of the top-level hospitality in a Relais&Châteaux hotel", said Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik today at the opening of the annual conference of the global hotel group Relais&Châteaux in Vienna, which brings together representatives of the 480 member hotels from 56 countries on five continents.
Plassnik: "Distinctiveness - for in a time when everything has become interchangeable, people are longing for identity and uniqueness. Care - because commitment at a top level also requires personal attention and precise detail management in dealing with partners and guests. And sustainability - because a beautiful outer shell will not suffice without sustainable attention to the environment and its resources, especially with regard to cuisine and furnishings. This is how modern commitment to tradition is expressed today."
"Each of the member hotels has its own brand and identity, and, as the carrier of a regional cultural heritage, it is in a sense a small Gesamtkunstwerk", the Minister continued. "Considering this distinctiveness and demanding hospitality, it is a particular distinction that Relais&Châteaux has chosen Vienna as a venue for its annual conference for a second time."
