Istanbul, 11 November 2008 - Tomorrow, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Palais Yeniköy will be opening an exhibition in its in-house gallery containing works of the well-known Austrian painter Anton Lehmden, titled "Aquarelles, drawings, etchings". Several of the aquarelles, drawings, and etchings on display are directly inspired by Istanbul, where the artist was taught at the University for Applied Arts in the mid-1960s. Besides, Anton Lehmden was also responsible for the artistic design of St. George´s church on the premises of the Austrian college in Istanbul. The artist was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna for more than 20 years. His works were shown at exhibitions in several countries, and he also received a great number of international awards. The exhibition in Palais Yeniköy will be open until the end of 2008.
At the opening of the exhibition, the George Crumb Trio (piano, cello, flute) will be performing works by Joseph Haydn, Rudolph Jungwirth, Bohuslav Martinu, and George Crumb.
