Foreign Minister meets counterpart from Singapore in New York
Vienna, 26 September 2007 - "As medium-sized states, Singapore and Austria have similar interests. We both want to improve the coexistence within the international community. No state can exist in a vacuum. We need each other, but we also need a global structure - the UN - to effectively solve the future issues of our century", said Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik today after a meeting with her colleague from Singapore George Yong-Boon on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
"As bridges between different worlds, our two countries are also partners in the dialogue between cultures and religions. Being a multi-religious society and a bridge between the European and the Asian world, Singapore is making an important contribution in this respect. Together we want to continue our efforts toward an intensive and peaceful exchange between the societies", said Plassnik.
