Vienna, 9 July 2004 - Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner will participate in the General Affairs and External Relations Council meeting in Brussels on Monday, 12 July 2004. The primary focus of the Council will be the presentation of the programme of the Dutch Presidency. The foreign ministers will also agree the date for the signing of the Constitutional Treaty for Europe.
Furthermore, the foreign ministers will discuss a number of foreign policy issues. The major items on the agenda will be the situation in Iraq, in Sudan, in Afghanistan and the Western Balkans. Finally, the programme includes a lunch of the ministers with Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi.
