Spindelegger: “Mongolia is a country with huge potential“
Austrian Foreign Minister receives his Mongolian counterpart in Vienna
Vienna, 22 October 2012 – “The growth indicators for Mongolia are truly impressive“, said Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Foreign Minister Spindelegger on the occasion of the visit of Luvsanvandan Bold, Foreign Minister of Mongolia, in Vienna. “This means that we are paying great attention to the developments in this huge country. We are happy that our two countries are already enjoying intensive cooperation in cultural projects and academic exchange schemes. With the bilateral soft-loan agreement we now offer additional impetus for Austrian companies to become actively involved also in the economic sector”, Spindelegger said.
The soft-loan agreement entered into force on 1 September and creates an excellent framework for the loan financing of selected projects in Mongolia, such as in the healthcare sector or in the field of water supply. Austria has a lot of expertise to offer in these areas enabling it to gain a foothold in this promising market. Mongolia has already expressed its great interest in the expansion of hospitals, for example.
“Today’s meeting also rings in the anniversary year 2013, when Austria and Mongolia will celebrate fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both sides are preparing a multi-faceted programme of events that will be conducive to learning more about each other”, Spindelegger concluded.
