First meeting of the newly formed Advisory Council on Development Policy at the Austrian Foreign Ministry
Vienna, 20 February 2012 – Vice Chancellor Michael Spindelegger today opened the first meeting of the Advisory Council on Development Policy at the Austrian Ministry of European and International Affairs. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of State Secretary Wolfgang Waldner who is in charge of issues of Austrian Development Cooperation.
The body will advise the Foreign Minister on matters of Austrian development cooperation and is made up by experts and qualified persons who work on the Council on a voluntary basis.
Members of the newly established Council are: Dr. Walter Koren, Director General of the Austrian Foreign Trade department at the Austrian Economic Chamber, Dr. Franz Küberl, President of Caritas Austria, Elisabeth Mayerhoffer, Director of Humanitarian Broadcasting of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation, Mag. Petra Navara-Unterluggauer, CEO of AG Globale Verantwortung, MSc Franz Karl Prüller, Director of the “Social Affairs” programme of Erste Stiftung foundation, Dr. Walter Sauer, head of the International office of the Austrian Trade Union Federation, Mag, Stefan Szyszkowitz, Member of the Board of EVN AG and Mag. Michael Wancata, Member of the Board of Österreichische Entwicklungsbank AG.
The Council will have the role of advisor and consultant, mainly providing impetus and taking a stand on the practical political orientation of Austrian development cooperation.
