Foreign Ministry presents logo on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Austria and Vietnam in 2012
Vienna, 19 January 2012 – A joint artistic logo was designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Austria and Vietnam.
The Austrian Embassy in Hanoi, together with the Hanoi Hung Yen University of Technology and Education organized a competition among students and faculty members for the design of the logo. An Austrian-Vietnamese jury selected the design by Nguyen Song Du, a lecturer at the design department of the faculty for textiles.
State Secretary Wolfgang Waldner congratulated the winner and expressed his delight at the logo and the state of the relations between Austria and Vietnam at the beginning of this anniversary year: „The two dragons flying side by side stand for harmony and progress, and thus represent all the positive things that Austria and Vietnam can implement together in the future.“ State Secretary Waldner pointed out to the Austrian-Vietnamese trade volume, which has increased threefold since 2000, to the support for the development of Vietnam in areas such as health care and vocational training through Austrian soft loans, and to the university cooperation that has developed at a particularly dynamic pace.
Throughout 2012, the Austrian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria are planning a series of cultural and scientific events in both countries to further promote the understanding of the Austrian and the Vietnamese people for each other.
