Concert by the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt in La Granja,
Close of the Haydn Year in Spain
Madrid, 3 December 2009 – On 29 November 2009, the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt gave a concert at the Casa de las Flores, an ancillary building of the La Granja de San Ildefonso Royal Palace (Province of Segovia). The performance was part of the programme marking the Haydn memorial year 2009.
In addition to various compositions by Haydn, the Trio also performed two works that had been composed within the framework of the “Dedicated to Haydn”project: the first was a work called “….and light…” by Austrian composer Gerhard Krammer, an homage to Haydn’s famous oratorio“The Creation”.The second work was a composition by Spanish composer José M. Sánchez-Verdú, whose work “Hekkan II”is inspired by another famous oratorio: Haydn wrote “The Redeemer’s Seven Last Words on the Cross”for the Santa Cueva Church in Cádiz (Andalusia), an expression of the composer’s great affinity with Spain.
The concert at the Casa de las Flores, a picturesque side wing of the Royal Palace of La Granja, was sold out. The performance by the musicians from Eisenstadt delighted the Spanish audience, which thanked the Trio with overwhelming applause.
