Austrian schools abroad
At present 134 Austrian teachers are teaching more than 3.300 students at seven Austrian schools abroad, offering an Austrian curriculum. These institutions have one thing in common, namely their excellent reputation in their host countries as educational centres raising the future intellectual elite.
The seven schools are the St. Georgs-Kolleg in Istanbul, the oldest Austrian school abroad; the high school in Prague; the Peter Mahringer Higher Technical Institute in Shkodër (Albania); an upper-secondary academic school (Oberstufenrealgymnasium) as well as the Austro-Hungarian Europe School (kindergarten, elementary, and lower high school) in Budapest; the Instituto Austriaco Guatemalteco in Guatemala, with 1.800 students the largest Austrian school abroad; and finally the most recent addition to this network, the primary school in Querétaro (Mexico) which opened in the academic year 2011/2012.
