Cultural Conventions

The importance which Austria attaches to conventions on cultural co-operation reflects the fact that they constitute an instrument enabling the Austrian Federal Government to influence both the content and the scope of cultural co-operation. These cultural conventions are thus expressions of interest in maintaining closer cultural relations with certain partner countries. Cultural relations governed by cultural conventions are therefore complementary to or part of political relations.
