EU Service Centres in Austria

The EuropeDirect Information Centres are service centres  for the unbureaucratic dissemination of information relevant to EU citizens. They were established in the citizens’ immediate surroundings to offer general information on the various areas of activities of the European Union. These Information Centres form part of the EU-wide EuropeDirect network which was established at a regional level in order to intensify the dialogue with the citizens. Citizens may visit the EuropeDirect Information Centres in person or contact them by telephone. The Info Points are also accessible via the internet.

The EuropeDirect Information Centres offer the following free of charge:

• General information about EU matters in any of the official EU languages
• An answer to your questions on any European Union policy 
• Practical information on dozens of subjects: for example, how to get your qualifications recognised or how to complain about unsafe products
• Contact details of relevant organisations you may need to deal with 
• Advice to help you overcome practical problems with exercising your rights in Europe
• Magazines, specialised literature and commentaries
• Information on job vacancies in the EU
• Access to EU data bases

The Euro Info Centres (EICs) form part of an EU-wide service network of nearly 300 information centres which was established in order to inform, advise and assist businesses on community issues. The Euro Info Centres are usually integrated in the local and regional business environment and aim particularly at improving the competitive environment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and craft businesses.

• provide information on issues of particular importance to business
• run documentation centres  
• offer access to EU data bases
• provide market information, statistics and economic data
• etc.

SOLVIT is an on-line problem solving network in which EU Member States work together to solve without legal proceedings problems caused by the misapplication of Internal Market law by public authorities. There is a SOLVIT centre in every European Union Member State (as well as in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). SOLVIT Centres can help with handling complaints from both citizens and businesses. They are part of the national administration and are committed to providing real solutions to problems within ten weeks. Using SOLVIT is free of charge.
