The individual Departments
Political Section
The Embassy's Political Department observes Japan foreign and domestic policy based on contacts with the Japanese Government, Parliament and non-governmental institutions. In addition, political officers inform Japanese partners and organisations about political developments within Austria and her foreign and European policy.
The Economic Affairs Department
The Economic Affairs Department promotes economic relations between Austria and Japan. We welcome enquiries and requests for information on all areas of the Austrian economy covered by our department members.

The Consular Section
The Consular Section of the Embassy helps Austrian citizens in Japan needing assistance or legal advice in emergency situations. The Consular section communicates between the Austrian and the Japanese authorities. Furthermore the Austrian Consular Section is contact point for residents in Japan who need a visa for Austria.
The Cultural Section
The Austrian Embassy's Cultural Department, the Cultural Forum Tokyo (Link Seite Kulturforum) coordinates Austrian foreign cultural and education policy in Japan. We want to convey the exciting face of today's Austria and its culture.
We promote Austria to Japanese students as an attractive place to study, with its excellent universities.
The Press Section
The Press and Information Section is your contact for media enquiries and provides information on Austrian issues and policy matters. We provide information on Austrian government policies, answer questions concerning political issues related to Austria, handle requests from both Japanese and foreign accredited journalists in Japan for interviews and statements, help media representatives to get in touch with people in Austria.
