Austrian Cultural Week in Bethlehem
From May 3rd to 6th the Austrian Cultural Week took place in the International Center of Bethlehem (ICB).
The program included the photo-exihibition "Muslims in Austria" by Dejan Petrovic, modern Jazz by the Philipp Nykrin-Trio, a shadow play for kids by Nesher & Nesher, a cooking class by the Austrian chef Matthias Hengl, Austrian movies and traditional, Austrian music by the Agnes Palmisano-Trio. Furthermore, Ambassador Georg Lennkh held a lecture about the Austrian Middle East policy under Bruno Kreisky.
The aim of the Austrian Cultural Week was to offer distraction to the people of the city of Bethlehem, which today is highly affected by the wall that almost surrounds the city on three sides as well as the decline of the Christian population. The fact that both Christan and Muslim children enjoyed the Week was a promising image.
