Visa Requirements
COMMON SCHENGEN VISA (for short-term stay, up to 90 days)
Competent Visa Office:
File an application for a common Schengen visa at the Embassy, Consulate or Representative Office of the country that:
- is the only or the main destination regarding the purpose of your visit;
- your stay there will be the longest compared to other stays in Schengen, provided there are more destinations of equal importance;
- is point of entry into Schengen, provided there are more destinations of equal importance and equal length of stay.
Basic documents that need to be presented by all applicants:
- Fully completed application form
- Passport with at least two blank pages and valid residence permit/reentry permit for Israel (at least valid for 60 days after return). Note that the passport needs to be valid for at least three months beyond the validity of the requested visa. Passports which were issued over 10 years ago cannot be accepted for visa applications.

If the photo is not up to standard it will be rejected. Do not staple or glue the photo to the application form. Please also make sure it is not damaged.
Please note that you will have to submit other documents in support of your application, depending on the purpose of your travel (pls see additional lists for visas for tourism, official visit, medical reasons etc.).
There is no external service provider (accredited commercial intermediary, travel agency), every applicant has to apply in person directly at the Visa Office.
Visa fee
There is a non-refundable standard fee of the equivalent to 60 € in NIS which is to be paid cash when submitting the application.
No additional fees will be charged.
Spouses/civil partners, children and dependants of EU/EEA nationals exercising their right of free movement get the visa issued free of charge.
Further exceptions can be made for:
School pupils, students, post graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005;
Representatives of non-profit organisations up to 25 years old participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events, organised by non-profit organisations.
The application form itself is free of charge and can be obtained at any of the Embassies and Consulates as well as on their homepages.
Time-limits for lodging an application:
The application has to reach the Visa Office and be qualified as admissible and complete at least 15 calendar days before the intended visit and cannot be lodged earlier than 3 months before the start of the intended visit.
Processing time:
Standard processing time for a visa application is 15 days from the time the application arrives at the Visa Office and is found admissible, but can be extended to 30 days in individual cases.
Applications short of any of the necessary documents will not be processed.
Please note that the mere possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right of entry and that the holders of visa are requested to present proof that they will fulfill the entry conditions at the external border. It is therefore advisable to have insurance, flight details, etc. ready to present at the border control.
Required Documents for a Schengen Visa
Tourist Visa/Family Visit:
* Fully completed application form
* Passport with at least two blank pages and valid residence permit for Israel. Note that the passport needs to be valid for at least three months longer then the desired length of the visa.
* 2 passport-size photos according to ICAO standards
If the photos are not up to standard they will be rejected. (do not staple or glue the photo to the application form. Please make sure it is not damaged)
* Proof of sufficient funds
* Hotel reservation/confirmation of tour/an invitation and a passport copy from your host in Austria (data page and page with residence permit if your host is not Austrian, data page only if your host is Austrian) or in some cases you might be asked to provide an electronic guarantee (Elektronische Verpflichtungserklärung - EVE)
* Transport documentation: e.g. flight reservation, rail ticket, car papers
* Medical travel insurance with a minimum coverage of € 30,000 and validity for all Schengen states.
* Evidence of occupation or student status: e.g. recent letter of employment / school / university. Proof of self-employment.
Business Visa:
* Fully completed application form
* Passport with at least two blank pages and valid residence permit for Israel. Note that the passport needs to be valid for at least three months longer then the desired length of the visa.
* 2 passport-size photos according to ICAO standards
If the photos are not up to standard they will be rejected. (do not staple or glue the photo to the application form. Please make sure it is not damaged)
* Letter from the business partner/organization in Austria or conference registration please note that in some cases you might be asked to provide an electronic guarantee (Elektronische Verpflichtungserklärung - EVE)
* Hotel booking or confirmation of tour
* Proof of sufficient funds
* Transport documentation: e.g. flight reservation, rail ticket, car papers.
* Medical travel insurance with a minimum coverage of € 30,000 and validity for all Schengen states.
* Evidence of occupation or student status: e.g. recent letter of employment / school / university. Proof of self-employment
Family members of EU, EEA or CH citizens (spouse, child or dependent ascendant) while exercising their right to free movement
* Filled out application form
* 2 passport sized pictures according to ICAO standards
* Applicant’s passport
* Original passport of EU/EEA national
* Original marriage certificate (spouse) and copy of it
* or birth certificate (dependant) and copy of it
