Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Johannes Wimmer, born on 15^th October 1961 in Graz, Austria, is Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Saudi Arabia since 11^th January 2009. 

His former assignments include the post of Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum London / Cultural Counsellor to the Austrian Embassy London (2004-2008), Deputy Director of the Department for International Organizations at the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2000 -2004), Political Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in New York (1997-2000) as well as postings at the Austrian Embassies in New Delhi (1^st Secretary 1993-1997) and Damascus (Attaché 1992-1993). 

Ambassador Wimmer entered the Austrian Foreign Service in 1991. He is a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy Vienna (1989-1991) and received his PhD (Dr. phil.) in History from the University of Graz (1988).
