Following the invitation of the Saudi Minister for Higher Education an Austrian delegation of rectors and vice rectors visited universities in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, and held talks with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Abdullah Al Mojil. Starting from the winter semester 2007 Saudi Arabia will increase their number of students in Austria.

Abdul Rahman Al Attyiah, Secretary General of the GCC, visited Austria and held talks with the Austrian Federal President, Dr. Heinz Fischer, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ursula Plassnik. He also visited the IAEA and informed Director General El Baradei about the planned Nuclear Programme of GCC.

The Saudi Minister for Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Al Anqari, together with Austrian Minister for Education, Elisabeth Gehrer, opened the Saudi Arabian Cultural & Scientific Days at the University of Technical Science in Vienna. A Memorandum of Understanding about educational and scientific cooperation has been signed.

Following an invitation of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer, visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was accompanied by Minister Rauch-Kallat (Ministry for Health & Women) and Minister Platter (Ministry of Defense), as well as a 40 person business delegation. It was agreed that bilateral relations shall be intensified at all levels.
