Weapons
Travellers who are not resident in Austria need a licence for the possession of guns according to § 39 of the Austrian law on firearms (Waffengesetz). This licence is available at the Austrian Embassy in Pretoria. For most of the hunting guns there are no restrictions for import or transit.
Please note that the import of certain weapons, i.e. for example pumpguns or knuckeldusters is stricktly forbidden.
